Position Description

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming school environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position performs routine cleaning and facility-support duties while following all applicable school safety policies, procedures, and regulations.

• Hourly Rate: $16.50 per hour
• Work Schedule:
  
  7 hours per day
• Retirement:
  Eligible to participate in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF)

• Previous custodial or building maintenance experience preferred.
• Previous custodial experience in a school or educational setting is highly preferred.
• Ability to work independently, follow directions, and prioritize daily tasks.
• Ability to interact professionally and appropriately with students, staff, and visitors.
• Knowledge of safe cleaning practices, equipment operation, and basic facility maintenance is preferred.

• Perform daily cleaning and sanitation of classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, and other school facilities.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas throughout the building.
• Properly use, clean, and maintain hand tools, power tools, cleaning equipment, and other facility related equipment.
• Follow all applicable safety policies, procedures, and regulations, including proper handling and storage of cleaning supplies and chemicals.
• Monitor the building for maintenance, safety, or security concerns and promptly report issues to administration.
• Prepare classrooms and common areas for daily school operations, meetings, and special events.
• Maintain adequate supplies and notify administration when cleaning or maintenance supplies need to be reordered.
• Support a safe and positive school environment by maintaining facilities in a manner that promotes student and staff health and well-being.
• Respond appropriately to spills, accidents, and other facility-related situations in accordance with school procedures.
• Perform additional custodial and facility-related duties as assigned by administration.
