Distinguishing Characteristics of work and essential attributes

Employees in this classification perform repair and maintenance duties for the residents of Two Lincoln Tower in the KDC portfolio on a 24hr-a-day, 7 day-a-week basis (attendance is a significant consideration in this job classification). Work varies but is generally governed by department policies as described in the current department Policy Manual, regulations, and operating procedures. Job performance is reviewed regularly by the Residential Chief Engineer.

The Residential Maintenance Engineer is expected to act with a great deal of independence and initiative in daily performance of his/her duties, continuously demonstrating and maintaining proficiency in all Engineering related tasks including appliance repair, light carpentry, plumbing, and electrical. The Residential Maintenance Engineer must be steady and dependable, work with pressure of deadlines, and adapt to a changing work schedule to accommodate after hours and weekend emergencies.

The Residential Maintenance Engineer must also see himself/herself as an integral part of the Customer Service Team. The Residential Maintenance Engineer will be tested on his/her knowledge and be asked to demonstrate certain skills at regular intervals.
English reading /writing skills and verbal communication skills are required.
