Position Overview
Job Title:
Bilingual Resource Teacher – McKinley Elementary School, .
Reports to:
Building Principal and Bilingual Program Coordinator.
FLSA:
Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $47,000 – $61,750.
Location:
Bellwood School District 88 (High-Needs School).

Qualifications- Valid State of Illinois Teaching Certificate
- Spanish speaking (fluent)
- Endorsement or approval in Bilingual Education or Early Childhood Endorsement, Elementary Education, and/or Type 29 Certificate
- Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to English language acquisition
- Provide student academic, linguistic, and cultural support in the classroom
- Facilitate and enhance communication, including translation and interpretation
- Build relationships with English Language Learners (ELLs) and their families
- Adhere to a weekly schedule of academic and linguistic support, in collaboration with school administration and teaching staff, based on the needs of ELLs
- Welcome families into the school district, ensure all paperwork is completed, and share available services to inform parent decisions
- Assist ESL and Bilingual teachers with communication to families regarding Home Language Survey and ESL status and services
- Ensure ELL records are complete and current
- Help transition newcomers into student life through social, emotional, and academic support
- Collaborate with teaching staff to plan ESL/Bilingual instructional programs, including culturally relevant materials and resources
- Obtain cultural background information relevant for instruction and assessment of student performance
- Implement one-on-one and small group lesson plans created by certified teaching staff to provide pre-teaching and instructional reinforcement
- Consult with staff to provide possible cultural or language-based explanations to student issues
- Provide support in core academic instruction with intention and planning in an inclusive environment, under the guidance of the classroom teacher
