Salary Range
: $47,000 - $61,750

• Valid State of Illinois Teaching Certificate
• Fluency in Spanish (both oral and written)
• Endorsement or approval in Bilingual Education, Early Childhood Endorsement, Elementary Education, or Type 29 Certificate
• Strong communication skills in English and Spanish, with proper grammar and vocabulary
• Knowledge of child development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment, diagnosis, and research related to English language acquisition

• Provide academic, linguistic, and cultural support to students in the classroom
• Facilitate communication, including translation and interpretation
• Build relationships with English Language Learners (ELLs) and their families
• Adhere to a flexible weekly schedule of academic and linguistic support created with school administration and teaching staff, aligned to the needs of ELLs

• Welcome families into the district, complete paperwork, and explain available services to support student decisions
• Assist ESL and Bilingual teachers in communicating with families about the Home Language Survey and ESL status/services
• Ensure ELL records are complete and current
• Help newcomers transition into student life through social, emotional, and academic support, in collaboration with teaching staff
• Contribute ideas to ESL/Bilingual instructional planning, including culturally relevant materials and resources
• Gather cultural background information relevant for instruction and assessment of student performance
• Implement one‑on‑one and small‑group lesson plans prepared by certified teaching staff to reinforce pre‑teaching and instruction
• Consult with staff to provide cultural or language‑based explanations for student issues
• Provide support in core academic instruction under the guidance of the classroom teacher, fostering an inclusive environment

Determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Bellwood School District 88 and the Bellwood Education Association

Performance will be evaluated according to the agreed‑upon Teacher Evaluation Plan.
