Special Education Teacher - Bellwood, IL

This contract position focuses on providing cross-categorical special education services for a third-grade classroom. Youll work closely with students who have diverse academic, behavioral, communication, adaptive, and functional needs, helping them thrive through individualized and evidence-based strategies.

• Valid teaching certification with special education endorsement (or eligibility)
• Experience working with elementary students across a broad spectrum of disabilities
• Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and documentation of progress toward IEP goals
• Strong knowledge of curriculum modifications and differentiated instructional planning
• Comfort with structured teaching routines, visual supports, and assistive technology
• Ability to implement behavioral, social-emotional, and sensory strategies
• Skilled collaborator who engages positively with aides, related service providers, and families
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities

• Deliver direct instruction aligned to grade-level standards and IEP goals
• Develop and implement daily lesson plans with individualized strategies
• Incorporate visual, behavioral, sensory, and communication supports in classroom routines
• Coordinate closely with program aides and 1:1 staff to promote a productive, supportive environment
• Use data-driven approaches to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
• Foster an inclusive, positive classroom culture that celebrates each students strengths
• Actively communicate and collaborate with colleagues, therapists, and families to support comprehensive student needs
