Special Education Resource Teacher
Site: Lincoln Elementary (2 positions available)
FLSA Status: Exempt •
Salary Range: $47,000 – $61,750
Reports to: Building Principal •
Working hours: Monday‑Friday 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Responsible for planning instruction and/or adopting the education program to enable students to benefit from educational experiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
- Provides a basic core program for mentally impaired students.
- Counsels individuals and groups of emotionally impaired students with educational, occupational and personal needs.
- Plans curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods.
- Evaluates student progress based on papers submitted, test scores and observations.
- Maintains the physical environment of the classroom.
- Maintains contact with parents of students.
- Works with staff to coordinate goals and objectives.
- Assists students in making realistic assessments of their abilities and in establishing educational goals compatible with these abilities.
- Assists in screening, evaluating and recommending placements of students.
- Prepares report cards, reading records, IPEC forms, classroom observation records, and other miscellaneous survey and forms.
Supervises students and directs paraprofessionals.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS- Education/
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in education. - Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Current Professional Educator License and appropriate content area endorsements.
- Language
Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, medical reports, technical procedures, or government regulations; write reports and procedure manuals; present information effectively; respond to questions from students, parents, administration, and the public. - Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, trigonometry; apply fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to situations. - Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
The employee is frequently sitting and standing, may occasionally bend or twist at the neck and back, and requires close vision to read typewritten material.
WORK ENVIRONMENTNoise level is usually loud; the employee frequently interacts with students, parents, and the community.
EVALUATIONPerformance is evaluated in accordance with Board of Education policies.
