Job Title: Fifth Grade Teacher
Reports To: Building Principal
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $47,000 – $61,750
Term: Length of School Year

Instructs elementary students in a classroom environment conducive to learning and personal growth; establishes effective rapport with pupils; motivates pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for upper elementary grade education; establishes good relationships with parents and staff.
Minimum Qualifications- Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College/University
- Experience: Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, demonstrate self-discipline and initiative. Follow state and district guidelines.
- License: Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate endorsements
- Teach courses in area of certification to elementary school pupils, using the Common Core Standards and any acceptable curriculum, the standards and benchmarks identified for each course, and other curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
- Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials stressing discovery and laboratory learning as necessary depending on subject taught.
- Demonstrate subject matter concepts and examples using models, Smart board, overhead projector, computers, Chromebooks or other approved teacher‑prepared instructional aids.
- Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Provide opportunities when needed for individualized and small‑group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the pupils.
- Utilize grading patterns that are fairly administered and based on identified criteria.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Treat pupils with respect and dignity.
- Evaluate pupils’ academic growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
- Select instructional aids and supplies; maintain required inventory records.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil’s progress and interpret the school program.
- Interact with pupils, staff and parents in a positive and professional manner.
- Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Establish rapport with pupils and provide a pleasant, safe, and orderly climate conducive to learning.
- Actively participate in full implementation of the curriculum created by the curriculum team.
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities provided by the district and self‑selected professional growth activities.
- Supervise pupils in and out‑of‑class activities during the assigned working day.
- Administer standardized tests in accordance with the district and state guidelines.
- Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
- Reinforce school board policies and regulations.

- Experience in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources; record of success in leading adults; prior experience with personnel recruitment, selection, training, management, labor relations and supervision.
