Packaging Machine Operator - Overnight Shift

Work Location: Bellwood

Position requires the ability to work overtime. This may involve varying start times, end times, and weekends, depending on business needs.

Shift: Overnight, 4:00 pm to 4:30 am. 2 nights on, 2 nights off, with every other weekend (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) off.

• Lead packaging machine set up and changeover for production runs.
• Follow work instructions, standards, and SOPs for equipment set up and changeover.
• Identify and resolve issues during set up and changeover.
• Ensure packaging materials, including film, cartons, boxes, and labels, meet specifications and quality standards; replenish supplies as needed.
• Feed product to conveyors, hoppers, scales, or other feeding devices.
• Operate packaging equipment, including troubleshooting and making adjustments per established work standards; program touch screen with code, date, product weight, and related data.
• Conduct detailed quality checks at regular intervals; inspect filled containers to ensure packaging meets specifications.

• Remove rejected product per metal detector alarm.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues at the entry-maintenance level.
• Escalate problems promptly when troubleshooting fails.
• Collaborate with maintenance for mechanical issues.
• Understand and demonstrate company core values and operating principles.
• Adhere to company policies, GMP, and safety standards.
• Perform additional duties to support Ferrara Candy Company objectives.
• Assist with operating Hand Power Jack (HPJ) to move finished goods.
• Assist with operator paperwork, including Win Spc.
• Minimum of 1 year experience operating packaging machinery and/or working in food manufacturing (strongly preferred).
• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Basic mathematical skills.
• Basic understanding of equipment capabilities, standards, and proper set points, including metal detectors, weight checks, and Ishida scales.
• Certification on pallet jack and forklift.
• Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods; bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Effective verbal and written communication; follow detailed written and/or oral instructions.
• Promote teamwork; maintain a positive attitude and flexibility for tasks as needed.
• Problem‑solve by adjusting variables in standardized situations.

$25.50 per hour plus $0.75 per hour shift differential.
