Douglas Press, Inc., a leading manufacturer in the gaming industry, is conveniently located north of the 25th Avenue exit of the Eisenhower Expressway in Bellwood, Illinois, west of downtown Chicago. At our air‑conditioned, non‑smoking manufacturing facility we produce lottery tickets and bingo cards that are marketed nationally. Our fast‑paced environment requires a high degree of accuracy and quality‑consciousness from all employees.
We are currently seeking a qualified Manufacturing Engineer to support product development and manufacturing departments with process improvements and to identify and implement new technology products and equipment.
The ideal candidate is a self‑motivated, highly confident, analytical, data‑driven and results‑oriented professional who demonstrates competency in providing engineering support to product development and manufacturing. The candidate should act as a liaison among Product Development, Manufacturing, Production Control, Maintenance and Q.A.; develop processing requirements for new product designs; assist with implementing new engineering plans/designs needed for cost reduction, process and equipment improvements;
analyze new materials; determine product cost information; investigate and eliminate equipment failures and determine root cause, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Develop set of processing requirements for new product designs.
- Initiate process and routing sheets by establishing sequence of operations, assigning work centers and initiating time studies to establish time standards.
- Generate and maintain manufacturing costs and process routings.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to obtain tooling availability, information, quotes and delivery dates.
- Conduct studies to investigate new tooling performance and current manufacturing methods to improve productivity.
- Conduct studies on new or existing manufacturing processes or equipment to determine its capability to meet quality requirements.
- Investigate problems arising in manufacturing areas and recommend corrective action.
- Focus on continual improvement of machine uptime, tooling usage, operator performance and defect rates to achieve company goals.
- B.S. degree in Engineering from an accredited 4‑year college.
- Demonstrable knowledge and minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing engineering support.
- Solid commitment to continuous improvement.
- Extremely organized, detail oriented and accurate with ability to multi‑task and prioritize.
- Ability to produce positive results under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with all levels of personnel.
- Team player and independent thinker.
- Strong organization, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Access and Word.
- Ability to work in a cross‑functional team.
- Proven project management skills – organization, planning, execution and follow‑up.
- Knowledge of manufacturing engineering concepts such as bill of materials (BOM), costing of products, machine and tooling design and CAD.
- Experience in a Lean environment.
- Experience in the printing industry.
- Knowledge and experience with the application of quality tools, including those related to problem solving and data analysis.
- Experience in database development.
