Ice Technician Manager

Position:
Ice Technician Manager. Department:
Operations Department.

Reports To:

Director of Operations/General Manager. FLSA Status:
Exempt. Salary Range: $50,000‑$55,000 annually.

• Oversee installation of ice, which includes freezing floor; painting base color, lines and logos; building up the ice sheet.
• Prepare ice for all practices, games and other ice events.
• Repair and build ice. Must be familiar with techniques for repairing and building ice around hockey goals and other areas that lose ice.
• Maintain glass and dasher walls.
• Monitor temperature and humidity levels.
• Maintain ice and lay water as needed.
• Prepare and cover ice for events that require a regular floor surface.
• Operate and control some equipment via computers.
• Operate and maintain facility ice plant.
• Assist Operations Manager and Facility Maintenance Manager as available.
• Work to build and train a staff of Zamboni Drivers.
• Hire and supervise ice crew.
• Maintain Ice Equipment:
  Zamboni’s, Edgers, Ice Melt Pit, and all other equipment needed for the making and maintenance of the ice sheet.

Education/Experience
:
High school diploma or GED. 2-year ice floor and operations experience.

Skills & Abilities
:

• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Demonstrate knowledge in practice and procedures related to ice installation, preparation and maintenance; typical methods for maintaining, repairing, and building ice; treatment of water and hydraulic equipment.
• Possess thorough understanding of operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event‑related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility.
• Follow and adhere to all safety precautions, rules, regulations, risk management and emergency procedures.
