Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Building Maintenance
Position:
Ice Technician Manager. Department:
Operations Department.
Reports To:
Director of Operations/General Manager. FLSA Status:
Exempt. Salary Range: $50,000‑$55,000 annually.
- Oversee installation of ice, which includes freezing floor; painting base color, lines and logos; building up the ice sheet.
- Prepare ice for all practices, games and other ice events.
- Repair and build ice. Must be familiar with techniques for repairing and building ice around hockey goals and other areas that lose ice.
- Maintain glass and dasher walls.
- Monitor temperature and humidity levels.
- Maintain ice and lay water as needed.
- Prepare and cover ice for events that require a regular floor surface.
- Operate and control some equipment via computers.
- Operate and maintain facility ice plant.
- Assist Operations Manager and Facility Maintenance Manager as available.
- Work to build and train a staff of Zamboni Drivers.
- Hire and supervise ice crew.
- Maintain Ice Equipment:
Zamboni’s, Edgers, Ice Melt Pit, and all other equipment needed for the making and maintenance of the ice sheet.
Education/Experience
:
High school diploma or GED. 2-year ice floor and operations experience.

Skills & Abilities
:
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Demonstrate knowledge in practice and procedures related to ice installation, preparation and maintenance; typical methods for maintaining, repairing, and building ice; treatment of water and hydraulic equipment.
- Possess thorough understanding of operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event‑related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility.
- Follow and adhere to all safety precautions, rules, regulations, risk management and emergency procedures.
