Key ResponsibilitiesA General Facilities Technician will require a blend of technical, mechanical, and soft skills to maintain, diagnose, and repair building systems. Key competencies include HVAC maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, plumbing repair, and proficiency with hand/power tools. They must possess strong problem-solving, safety compliance, and customer service skills, often working in physically demanding environments.
Essential Technical Skills- HVAC & Mechanical:
Understanding of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure occupant comfort. Ability to repair motors, pumps, and machinery. - Electrical Systems:
Replacing switches, outlets, diagnosing electrical issues and reading schematics. - Plumbing & Pipe fitting:
Repairing leaks, unclogging drains, and maintaining fixtures. - General Maintenance & Construction:
Drywall repair, painting, carpentry, and building hardware repairs. - Tools & Equipment:
Proficiency using power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment like multimeters. - Safety & Compliance:
Knowledge of OSHA, building codes, and safety procedures to prevent hazards. - Technology Literacy:
Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and MS Office for tracking work orders.
Physical Requirements
- Problem-Solving:
Diagnosing issues and implementing solutions, often in emergency situations. - Time Management:
Prioritizing multiple repair requests efficiently. - Customer Service:
Interacting professionally with building occupants and tenants. - Physical Ability:
Lifting heavy equipment, climbing ladders, and working in tight spaces. - Adaptability:
Ability to handle varied tasks and work on-call for emergencies.
Other Requirements:
This is a physically demanding position that often requires standing for extended periods of time, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, the ability to distinguish between colors, the ability to work in an environment with noise that may be difficult for some individuals with sensitivity to noise, and the use of hand and power tools.
This position requires the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to welding helmets, hand shields, goggles, respirators, fire/flame resistant clothing and aprons, and gloves. Additional PPE will be required for positions involving work in a clean room environment.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
