Position OverviewThe School Psychologist supports the social, emotional, and academic development of students through comprehensive assessment, consultation, and collaboration with educators, families, and community partners.
The School Psychologist plays a critical role in identifying student strengths and needs, developing interventions, and supporting instructional and behavioral strategies that promote student success. This role contributes to a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment by assisting students, staff, and families in addressing academic, behavioral, and social‑emotional needs.
Qualifications Required- Master's Degree in School Psychology
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Psychology Endorsement
- Knowledge of evidence‑based intervention strategies that support student learning and behavior
- Experience using assessment data to develop individualized instructional and behavioral plans
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with educators, families, and community partners
- Ability to analyze data and support data‑driven decision‑making
- Experience supporting the academic achievement of students performing below grade level
- Utilize varied models and methods of assessment to identify student strengths and needs
- Collect and analyze student data to inform instructional, behavioral, and intervention planning
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions in response to data
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and other professionals to support student learning and well‑being
- Participate in planning and decision‑making processes at the individual, classroom, and system levels while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards
- Schedule and coordinate initial and re‑evaluation multidisciplinary team meetings (MDCs)
- Complete required referral and evaluation documentation in compliance with state timelines and regulations
- Maintain and update Medicaid/Fee‑for‑Service documentation as required
- Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate intellectual ability, academic achievement, emotional and behavioral functioning, and social development
- Interpret assessment data and communicate findings to school personnel and families
- Develop recommendations and interventions that support both general and special education programming
- Conduct assessments for students placed in out‑of‑district programs when necessary
- Provide technical assistance in data management and interpretation for program evaluation and problem‑solving
- Collaborate with school staff to develop academic goals and interventions for students at risk of academic failure
- Support parents and caregivers in implementing behavior strategies at home
- Provide individual or group counseling support to students when appropriate
- Identify students at risk for academic, behavioral, or emotional concerns through screening and assessment
- Participate in preschool and ongoing screening programs
- Assist in school‑wide or individual crisis situations and provide appropriate support services
