Anticipated Teaching Openings 2026 - 2027 School Year
Berwyn North School District 98, located in Berwyn, Illinois, serves more than 2,500 students across three elementary schools and one middle school in grades Pre-K through 8. The District is accepting applications to build a candidate pool for anticipated teaching vacancies for the school year. These openings may occur due to enrollment changes, resignations, retirements, or program expansion. The Teacher instructs students, facilitates student learning, monitors progress, maintains appropriate discipline, and performs other professional duties as required to support student success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Instruct students in accordance with established lesson plans
- Establish positive, standards-based learning expectations
- Maintain consistent classroom routines and procedures
- Create a flexible learning environment that supports student growth
- Foster positive rapport with students; encourage responsibility and self-discipline
- Establish and maintain a safe, orderly environment in accordance with District discipline policies (classroom, hallways, lunchroom, playground, etc.)
- Track and report student attendance per school protocol
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians as needed
- Coordinate and attend field trips, extracurricular, and after-school activities as assigned
- Complete additional duties as assigned
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or Type 39 Substitute Teaching License issued by ISBE Appropriate subject area/content endorsement, if applicable Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Required Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Prior experience working with children and/or adolescents Passion for educating and supporting students Strong commitment to serving the students of Berwyn Subject matter knowledge aligned with state certification requirements Knowledge of effective instructional strategies and classroom management practices Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs Ability and willingness to collaborate with colleagues and administrators Understanding of students' academic, social-emotional, physical, and developmental needs Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English Ability to interpret lesson plans, procedures, and instructional materials Willingness and ability to assist with managing student behavior Ability to lift 10 - 20 pounds
Preferred Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Ability to read, write, and speak proficiently in Spanish Knowledge of peer mediation and conflict resolution strategies and the ability to apply them in school settings
OtherComply with all District policies and state and federal laws, including special education regulations Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position Serve as a positive role model for students and staff Perform other duties as assigned
SalarySalary Range: FY26 Salary Schedule;
Initial salary is determined by prior experience and education.
