Looking for a solid local CDL-A driving job where you actually get to sleep in your own bed after every shift? We're hiring dedicated night drivers to run intermodal freight out of our Chicago terminal. If you want steady miles across the Midwest without sacrificing your daily home time, this is a great fit.
This isn't an over-the-road gig where you're gone for weeks. You'll pull rail containers out of Chicago yards to service local and regional loops throughout Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, and Indiana, giving you consistent work while keeping your home routine intact.
The Details at a Glance
- Earnings: Starting at $0.62 per mile plus $20.00 per load pulled (Drivers average around $1,200 to $1,400 gross per week).
- Night Shift Premium:
Extra $0.06/mi (Mon–Fri, 7 PM – 4 AM). - Weekend Premium:
Extra $0.12/mi (Fri 7 PM – Mon 4 AM).
- Night Shift Premium:
- The Work: Mostly heavy drop-and-hook operations at night, along with some live loads/unloads as needed.
- Schedule: Night shift, 100% local. Weekend shifts are standard to keep freight moving. Clock out and go home every single day. You only work holidays if they align with your normal dispatch days.
- The Route: Pulling containers out of Chicago rail yards across local and regional loops (IL, WI, MI, IA, IN).

What You Need to Apply
- Location: Must live within 25 miles of the Chicago terminal (Zip: 60608).
- Experience: First Seat solo drivers only (no trainees,
whileteam drivers are accepted in this position). Requires 6+ months of verifiable tractor-trailer experience in the last 3 years (OR 12+ months in the last 5 years). - Licensing: Valid Class A CDL and a current DOT Medical Card (no extra endorsements required).
- Background & Screening: Clean MVR, solid work record, and must pass a mandatory drug screen.
