The Maintenance Helper supports Marriott International corporate headquarters office by ensuring a safe, functional, and well-maintained workplace for associates. Responsibilities include performing routine maintenance tasks, responding promptly to work orders, assisting with furniture moves and reconfiguration of office furniture event setups (including stage builds and furniture moves), and providing hands-on support for engineering and operations teams. The position requires flexibility, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering excellent internal customer service.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Safety and Security

* Report work related accidents, or other injuries immediately upon occurrence to manager/supervisor.

* Use proper equipment, wear appropriate personal protective clothing (PPE), and employ correct lifting procedures to avoid injury.

* Follow company and department safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment.

* Identify and correct unsafe work procedures or conditions and/or report them to management and security/safety personnel.

* Follow policies and procedures for the safe operation and storage of tools, equipment, and machines.

* Follow Hazardous Material Management Program procedures for handling and disposing of chemicals, fertilizer, pesticides, blood borne pathogens, etc., including using Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

* Follow property specific procedures for handling emergency situations (e.g., evacuations, medical emergencies, natural disasters).

* Complete appropriate safety training and certifications to perform work tasks.

* Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work.

Maintenance Duties

* Assist with physical, non-technical tasks such as moving furniture and office moves/reconfigurations.

* Provide hands-on help for day-to-day operations, including preventive maintenance and workplace upkeep.

* Respond to emergency room, space, and stage set-ups.

* Offer coverage for loading dock operations when needed.

* Support customer service delivery by ensuring timely assistance for internal requests and maintaining a clean, functional environment.

* Follow safety protocols and company standards during all tasks, including proper handling of tools and equipment.

* Perform basic maintenance activities including but not limited to light bulb replacement, filter changes, minor plumbing, and minor repairs under supervision of engineering staff.

* Assist with inventory management for supplies and report shortages to the maintenance manager.

* Provide general support for access, deliveries, and stocking supplies.

* Escort and badge vendors to support project work and walk-throughs.

* Participate in on-the-job training programs to develop skills for future advancement into technical roles.

* Submit, track, and report on work orders assigned by the team.
