Janitor / Housekeeper (Bethlehem)

This role provides essential janitorial and housekeeping services in a health center, ensuring clean, safe, and welcoming spaces for patients, staff, and visitors. You will perform a variety of cleaning and sanitizing tasks in patient rooms, offices, bathrooms, and common areas while delivering courteous, patient-facing customer service during a consistent first-shift schedule from Tuesday to Saturday.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize patient rooms, including furniture, fixtures, and high-touch surfaces.
• Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors.
• Maintain cleanliness of common areas such as hallways, waiting rooms, offices, and other shared spaces.
• Perform routine janitorial duties, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors and carpets.
• Remove trash and recycling from patient rooms, offices, bathrooms, and common areas, and transport it to designated disposal areas.
• Replenish supplies such as paper products, soap, and other consumables in restrooms and common areas.
• Sanitize and disinfect surfaces and equipment in accordance with health center standards and protocols.
• Follow established cleaning schedules and checklists to ensure all assigned areas meet cleanliness and safety standards.
• Respond promptly to cleaning requests from staff and support special cleaning needs as they arise.
• Provide courteous, professional customer service in a patient-facing environment, interacting respectfully with patients, office staff, doctors, and nurses.
• Adhere to all health center policies and procedures related to cleanliness, safety, and infection control.
• Report any maintenance or safety issues, such as spills, hazards, or damaged equipment, to the appropriate personnel.
• Use cleaning tools, chemicals, and equipment safely and according to instructions and training.
• Maintain a neat and organized work cart and storage area, ensuring supplies are stocked and properly stored.
• Arrive on time for scheduled shifts from Tuesday to Saturday and complete assigned tasks within the designated time frame.

Essential Skills

• Demonstrated experience or strong aptitude in cleaning, housekeeping, janitorial, custodial, or environmental services.
• Ability to perform core cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and trash removal.
• Skill in sanitizing and disinfecting surfaces in a health care or similar environment.
• Strong customer service skills for a patient-facing role, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, office staff, doctors, and nurses.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a reliable, dependable approach to work.
• Ability to follow cleaning schedules, checklists, and instructions with attention to detail.
• Capability to work independently and stay productive throughout the shift.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks for the duration of the shift.
• Willingness and ability to work in a health center environment and comply with all safety and cleanliness standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous housekeeping, janitorial, custodial, or environmental services experience in a health care or similar facility is beneficial.
• Familiarity with using cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to guidelines.
• Comfort working in a patient-facing setting with frequent interaction with clinical and administrative staff.
• Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
• Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with patients and staff.

Work Environment

The role involves regular interaction with patients, office staff, doctors, and nurses in a busy clinical setting.

The dress code includes a blue polo, black pants, and closed-toe shoes, with sweats not permitted. You will use standard cleaning tools and equipment, including vacuums, mops, brooms, and disinfecting products, and will follow established protocols to maintain a sanitary and orderly facility.
