This role is responsible for overseeing, managing, and coordinating daily operations, along with seasonal and annual maintenance tasks for all municipal properties. This role also involves providing support for school facilities, executing repairs and replacements of park and playground equipment, and addressing various roadway features that require attention. Furthermore, This role implements the work plan associated with special events and actively engages in storm and ice events.
Additional duties may be assigned.
Supervision Scope:This role involves a range of diverse and significant responsibilities that necessitate a deep understanding of division operations, along with the ability to apply sound judgment and take initiative, especially in circumstances that lack clear guidelines or established protocols.
Supervision Received:Operates under the broad guidance of the Maintenance Superintendent, adhering to all applicable rules, regulations, and policies. Responsibilities entail the capability to plan and execute operations, complete tasks independently, and establish as well as adhere to schedules.
Supervision Given: Supervises all permanent staff, trainees, cooperative education students, interns, and seasonal personnel within the crew.

- Schedule, assign, train and supervise work crews.
- Offers insights on recruitment, disciplinary actions, and termination suggestions.
- Enhance efficiency and effectiveness of all operations.
- Assess job completion and employee performance.
Administrative Operations
- Prioritize assignments and implement workplans.
- Develop and execute maintenance schedules.
- Engage in the development, planning, scheduling, and execution of projects.
- Maintain accurate records of work progress and completed tasks.
- Provide a clean and well-organized work environment.
- Assists in preparation cost estimates.
- Conduct inventory and acquire materials and supplies.
- Interacts with the general public as needed.
Equipment & Fleet Management
- Ensure proper usage and storage of tools, fleet and equipment.
- Operates light, medium, and heavy equipment, including commercial trucks.
- Report equipment deficiencies to Maintenance Superintendent.
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment.
Facilities & Grounds Maintenance
- Assists with oversight, inspections and maintenance of boilers, elevators, air tanks, sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, fire extinguishers and associated mechanical equipment.
- May meet with state and local inspectors to ensure compliance with codes when needed.
- Executes the alteration, maintenance, and repair of City owned facilities.
- Provides support for School facility maintenance.
- Troubleshoots and repairs plumbing, electrical, HVAC, heating systems and electric rolling gates.
- Repairs and replaces park and playground equipment.
