This position is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary indoor and outdoor areas of the facility through routine custodial work, operation of cleaning equipment, and minor maintenance repairs. Duties include cleaning classrooms, restrooms, and fixtures; handling and storing supplies; conserving energy; performing basic carpentry; ensuring overall cleanliness, order, and safety of the building and surrounding premises.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Knowledge of standards for cleanliness of grounds, buildings, and equipment
- Knowledge of school building codes and laws
- Knowledge of the precautions necessary to safeguard personnel, property, and equipment
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in janitorial work
- Ability to climb to the height of school roof/ceiling
- Ability to use and/or operate cleaning equipment associated with high volume traffic facilities
- Ability to maintain standards for cleaning building and grounds
- Ability to communicate and work in a positive manner with staff and pupils
- Ability to live independently objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks in the care, cleaning, and maintenance of buildings and equipment
Experience and training which demonstrates a basic knowledge of building and grounds maintenance and repair.
