As a new Maintenance Custodian at the Housing Authority of Billings, you can expect a variety of daily tasks that contribute to the upkeep of our facilities. Each day, you will perform general cleaning duties, such as sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing common areas, restrooms, and office spaces. You'll also be responsible for maintaining outdoor areas, including landscaping and trash removal, ensuring that our environment is clean and inviting.

Additionally, you may assist with basic repairs and maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and reporting any maintenance issues to the supervisor. Your work schedule will typically be Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, allowing for a structured routine that supports a healthy work‑life balance.

Collaboration with team members and occasional interactions with residents are also part of the experience, enhancing community engagement.

To thrive as a Maintenance Custodian with the Housing Authority of Billings, a range of skills and qualifications is essential. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, along with a valid Montana Driver’s License and the ability to meet insurance requirements. Proficiency in using hand and power tools will be crucial, as you will engage in various maintenance tasks, including general building upkeep and grounds maintenance, such as snow removal and landscaping.

In addition, basic vehicle maintenance skills are advantageous for ensuring that all equipment is in good working order. Strong time management and organizational abilities will help you efficiently prioritize tasks throughout your day. Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary for interactions with team members and residents.

Attention to detail is vital in maintaining high standards, while conflict resolution and interpersonal skills will help foster a collaborative work environment. Finally, you should be able to lift up to 100 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
