Rocky Vista University in Billings, MT has an opening for a Facilities and Grounds Senior Technician (Full‑Time). Salary: $21.85 - $25.00 per hour. Full benefits package includes Health, Dental, Vision, at least 2 weeks of paid vacation, 12 sick days, personal days, 13½ paid holidays, and a 401(k) match up to 7%.

Primary PurposeThe Facilities and Grounds Technician is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the operation of RVU’s facilities, including custodial, grounds, lighting system monitoring, and campus usage safety. The role provides backup and support to the Manager of Facilities and Grounds, Facilities and Grounds Sr. Technicians, Shipping and Receiving, and Security. The position reports to the Manager of Facilities and Grounds.
Essential Job Functions- Assist in or coordinate overall planning and decision‑making for maintaining the safety, utility, and appearance of RVU.
- Keep records of inspections and maintenance of all safety systems.
- Create a schedule of regular evaluations and maintenance.
- Recommend improvements and modifications related to custodial staff duties.
- Supervise outside contractors and vendors (landscaping, plumbing, lighting, door closures, security) and ensure completion of work.
- Monitor lighting schedules and support HVAC management.
- Submit maintenance project requests to the Manager of Facilities and Grounds.
- Help develop and maintain a 24/7 coverage plan for building usage, custodial, grounds, maintenance, safety, and emergencies.
- Maintain RVU vehicles and equipment.
- Oversee usage of facilities by RVU personnel and external groups (set‑ups, teardowns, clean‑up).
- Oversee snow removal scheduling and perform shoveling or light equipment operations.
- Maintain irrigation system and grounds.
- Read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, plans, and schematics.
- Work rotating on‑call status as needed.
- Promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting 50 lbs, climbing a 25‑foot ladder, and working in all weather conditions.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1 to 3 years of related experience in maintenance and/or facilities.
- 1 to 3 years experience with Building Automation Systems.
- 1 to 3 years of electronic training with understanding of electrical and electronic diagrams.
- 1 to 3 years of hands‑on maintenance, landscaping, or grounds upkeep duties.
