The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non‑profit, faith‑based organization, has a job opening for Full Time Building Maintenance Worker for the Birmingham Area Command, located in Birmingham, AL paying $14.90 an hour.

Hours:

Typical Hours are 7:30am – 4:00pm with a 30 minute lunch break.

• Perform routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles;
• Perform routine groundskeeping work to ensure beautification of the landscape;
• Perform minor plumbing and carpentry repair work;
• Regularly clean building and sanitize as necessary;
• Sweep, vacuum, strip, mop, and wax floors; sweep sidewalks;
• Assemble and move office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc.;
• Monitor activities and visitors of building and grounds to ensure security;
• Maintain all tools, supplies, parts, and equipment belonging to the Maintenance Department;
• Pick up materials and repair items needed for maintenance work;
• Perform routine building maintenance activities and perform minor plumbing repairs required by leaking faucets and clogged toilets;
• Replace light bulbs as needed;
• Drive a box truck during Christmas activities.

High school diploma or G.E.D. and two years of experience in handling minor building and maintenance repairs and good skill in the use of hand and power tools.

Or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Valid State Driver’s License is required.
