Job DescriptionThe purpose of the Assistant Custodian is to maintain an attractive, sanitary, safe facility for students, staff, and the public. Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of building.
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide a high level of Customer Service as outlined by the Operations Officer.
- Follow job related instructions given by the Custodial Foreman and the Principal.
- Responsible for assisting in overseeing any minor repairs.
- Responsible for devising a plan for the cleaning of each office or room in his/her building on a daily basis, such as dusting, vacuuming, washing windows, waxing floors and shampooing carpet.
- Maintain safe atmosphere for students and persons working in building as well as visitors.
- Assist with ordering materials necessary for the upkeep of the building while staying within his/her assigned budget.
- Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas, neat and clean at all times.
- After opening the building each day at the designated time, checks to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of occupancy.
- Before leaving each day at the designated time, secures all doors and windows, and turns off lights except those left on for security reasons.
- Clean restrooms and drinking fountains daily according to health department regulations.
- Clean classrooms and corridors daily.
- Remove trash and rubbish from campus daily; cuts grass weekly and trims shrubbery as needed.
- Care for plants and shrubs inside as well as outside the building.
- Move furniture and equipment within the building as directed by the Principal.
- Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state & federal rules & regulations.
- Engage in professional growth & development. Demonstrates professional ethics & leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must provide own transportation.
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Must have a valid Alabama Driver’s License.
