- Maintain, repair, and operate vehicles (e.g., trucks, tractors, maintenance vehicles, man lifts, golf carts), heavy machinery, and equipment (chainsaws, weed eaters, mowers, blowers, power tools, pruners, pole saws). Perform routine equipment and shop maintenance.
- Perform mowing, tree trimming, fertilizing, weed eating, landscaping, pesticide applications, irrigation repairs, and plant care (grasses, flowers, bushes, trees, and other shrubbery). Install landscaping items on campus grounds and seed as needed.
- Ensure campus is always neat and attractive.
- Operate heavy and light equipment (skid steers, front end loaders, sweepers, brooms, shovels, dump trucks) for snow removal; keep sidewalks and steps clear of snow and ice.
- Blow and sweep sidewalks, stairs, porches, and parking lots weekly or daily as necessary.
- Complete projects in accordance with supervisor assignments.
- Assist with general maintenance, changing light bulbs, program/event set-up and break‑down, and transporting furniture, equipment, and supplies for campus sponsored and hosted events.
- Maintain storm and sanitary sewer systems; repair and winterize all irrigation systems.
- Request supplies or materials to maintain inventory and ensure availability of required items.
- Clean all areas when finishing a project.
- Perform other assigned duties, including a minimum of 8 hours for Special Events.
- Work independently and stand or bend for hours.
- Operate ground‑keeping tools and lift frequently 60 pounds, occasionally more than 100 pounds.
- Walk, kneel, crouch, bend, twist, and climb ladders frequently.
- Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, noise, dust, and dirt.
- Go up and down stairs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid ND driver’s license and insurability under UTTC’s insurance carrier.
- Experience using yard maintenance equipment.
- Knowledge of tools and equipment for duty performance.
- Knowledge of proper maintenance protocols for vehicles, equipment, buildings, and vegetation.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Experience using power hand tools and heavy snow removal equipment.
- Ability to work independently and with others.
- One year of ground‑keeping maintenance experience, including grounds keeping, landscaping, irrigation repairs, and equipment maintenance.
