Job Description
Reporting to the Assistant Manager of 2nd & 3rd Shift Custodial Services, the incumbent will be responsible for maintaining established standards of cleanliness and sanitation for interior spaces within assigned education and general assignment buildings across campus.
Will serve in a leadership and directional role when the 2nd & 3rd Shift Facilities Operations Assistant Manager is unavailable.
Responsibilities- Maintain established standards of cleanliness and sanitation for interior spaces within assigned education and general assignment buildings across campus.
- Clean and disinfect common high‑touch surfaces, restrooms, hallways, corridors, classrooms, stairwells, elevators, and general interior spaces.
- Perform emergency cleanup and execute blood‑borne pathogen procedures.
- Perform floor and window maintenance, operate powered cleaning equipment, remove trash, collect recycling, and replenish supplies.
- Report equipment and building repairs and any unsafe and unusual building maintenance issues.
- Care for and handle facilities supplies, equipment, and assigned keys.
- Serve in a leadership role when the 2nd & 3rd Shift Facilities Operations Assistant Manager is unavailable.
- Be designated Emergency Personnel and report to work as needed during campus emergencies, holidays, closings, and per supervisor’s instructions.
- Ability to comprehend and follow instructions, and properly use or learn to use cleaning chemicals and agents, including dilution and dispensing systems.
- Ability to walk and stand extensively; climb stairs; safely move or handle up to 35 lbs.; bend, stoop, reach (including reaching above the head to dust); push/pull; perform repetitive motion; twist; and shovel snow.
- Ability to safely and efficiently operate electrically powered and manual cleaning equipment.
- Willingness and ability to learn the use of heavy floor‑care equipment.
- Capability to work independently without close supervision.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Demonstrated ability to direct and lead the work of others.
- Ability to make independent decisions and judgments in absence of supervisor.
- Capability to develop a good working relationship with workers, students, and professional staff.
- Ability to effectively use all equipment as well as train others on the proper usage.
- Experience working with the public and/or customer service experience.
- Knowledge and experience with various cleaning methods.
- Custodial/cleaning experience in an institutional or commercial cleaning environment (such as hospitality, commercial cleaning company, manufacturing, health care facilities, etc.).
- Custodial/cleaning experience working in an educational environment (such as universities/college, school systems, etc.).
- Previous experience operating professional cleaning equipment.

- Overtime Status:
Non‑Exempt – Eligible for overtime - Appointment Type:
Regular - Salary: $34,944 plus $2,080 Shift Differential
- Hours per week: 40
- Review Date:
June 8, 2026 - Must have a criminal conviction check.
- Must have a driver’s license check.
- Normal work hours are M‑F 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., but work hours may vary to meet management and customer needs.
