Housekeeping Worker – Student Engagement & Campus Life

We are looking for a Housekeeping Worker to join the Student Engagement and Campus Life (SECL) team in Blacksburg, VA. This full‑time position ensures a clean, sanitary, and safe environment across SECL facilities, maintaining established standards of cleanliness in student lounges, offices, lobbies, stairways, restrooms, showers, windows, and other assigned venues.

• Maintain and replenish supplies in assigned areas and report any facility repairs or needs to management.
• Operate powered and manual cleaning equipment; mix chemicals in proper proportions according to established guidelines.
• Care and handle Custodial Operations supplies, equipment, and assigned keys.
• Snow and ice removal from entrances and sidewalks, raking leaves, and gathering trash from areas near buildings.
• Occasionally support Event Operations Staff in the preparation of events scheduled in reservable spaces.
• Floor maintenance, dusting, and removal of trash throughout SECL facilities.

• Excellent customer service and communication skills for interaction with employees, students, and visitors.
• Knowledge of commercial/industrial cleaning methods.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision and safely mix chemicals with proper proportions from established guidelines.
• Experience operating manual and electrically powered cleaning equipment.

• Experience cleaning institutional or commercial areas.

Base compensation starts at $33,280.00. Benefits include health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and more.

• Saturday – Wednesday 3:00 PM–11:30 PM and weekends as needed.
