Plant Superintendent – Blakely, GA

This position is full time and exempt.

Job Summary

The Superintendent will lead all day-to-day activities of the Blakely, GA Specialty Plant. He/She will ensure a safe, sanitary workplace in compliance with company policies and regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and will be responsible for training and leading hourly employees in operations, safety, and facility maintenance. The role will also perform special assignments and initiate improvements to meet operational objectives/KPIs.

Job Responsibilities
  • Executes plans according to the work schedule, prioritizing shift work while properly assigning shift resources to effectively utilize their experience, training and ability.
  • Ensures the safety of all personnel through compliance with occupational safety and health regulations and demonstrates safety leadership by participating in all safety processes with a goal of zero injuries.
  • Recognizes environmental, safety, and GMP hazards and takes actions to eliminate them, safeguarding employee safety, product quality and environmental purity.
  • Addresses employee concerns and maintains good communication and morale on shift and within the department.
  • Works with employees to develop a high level of job proficiency, analyzes maintenance performance, and seeks efficiency improvements.
  • Provides positive reinforcement when employees exhibit good results and safe performance.
  • Maintains discipline within the department and documents unusual or unacceptable behaviors.
  • Is responsible for employee development and actively engages in the development and training of hourly labor.
  • Has strong troubleshooting skills and utilizes mechanical and electrical expertise to maintain production systems, utilities, buildings and grounds.
  • Collaborates with other facility management to utilize equipment for improved safety, quality, reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Ensures corporate policies and standards are followed in daily activities.
  • Works with the Maintenance Manager to establish preventive maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Maintains documentation and identifies cost-saving ideas.
  • Can lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • High School Diploma/GED with years of on-the-job training
  • Technical certification
  • 2‑3 years’ experience developing a team
  • Troubleshooting/problem‑solving experience
  • Excellent leadership ability
  • Mechanical, electrical, and leadership skills
  • Job hazard analysis and safety compliance knowledge
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, email, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to train others
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged standing and frequent bending, stooping, walking, and reaching daily.
  • Requires a full range of physical motion to operate manual and electrically powered tools and electrical test equipment; ability to move throughout the facility, including climbing stairs and ladders and working at heights.
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors year‑round, occasionally in dusty, noisy, or hazardous environments.

The base pay offered ranges from $79,100.00 to $, varying with individual factors such as market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non‑exempt employees will also receive overtime pay for qualifying overtime hours. As an at‑will employee, employees are subject to modifications in base pay or other compensation at any time.
