As the City's General Maintenance Worker, you'll be the go-to person for keeping City facilities in top condition.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing general building and facility maintenance
- Replacing light fixtures, bulbs, switches, and outlets
- Changing HVAC filters and conducting routine inspections
- Completing minor plumbing repairs
- Painting, drywall repair, and touch-up work
- Performing basic carpentry repairs on doors, windows, locks, cabinets, and furniture
- Conducting preventative maintenance inspections
- Identifying maintenance concerns and safety issues before they become major problems
- Coordinating and overseeing contractors when specialized repairs are needed
- Assisting with facility setup for meetings, events, and community programs
- Managing maintenance supplies and inventory
- Supporting emergency facility needs when necessary
Successful candidates will have:
- High school diploma or GED
- At least two years of experience in building maintenance, construction, property maintenance, handyman services, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of training and experience)
- Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting practices
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- A valid New Mexico driver's license
This position requires regular walking, standing, bending, climbing ladders, and lifting. Candidates should be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally assist with heavier items.
