Job Title: General Maintenance ( 1:00pm - 10:00 pm Shift )

Reports To: Maintenance Director

Pay Grade: AU05

Workdays: 261

Minimum Salary: $18.25 per hour

Type of Assignment: Non-Exempt

Mid-Point Salary: $21.90 per hour

Contract Status: At-Will

Funding: This position is locally funded.

Salary is determined on directly related experience supported by a service record or experience affidavit. Annualized pay may be pro-rated based on actual start date.

Position Summary

Perform general maintenance and repair of district facilities, including building structures and related mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and sanitary systems. Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and address repair issues in a timely manner.

Assist with preventative maintenance programs to ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and in compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Support grounds maintenance activities, including upkeep of walkways, play areas, athletic fields, and landscaped areas. Maintain tools and equipment in safe working conditions and follow all Boerne ISD safety procedures.

Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency.
  • Valid Driver License with a good driving record (meet and maintain liability coverage eligibility by BISD Carrier).
  • Three (3) years’ general maintenance or related experience.
  • Satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five (5) years’ experience in general building maintenance. eld.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be team oriented.
  • Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures.
  • Ability to work independently.
Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities

Maintenance and Repair

  • Assist skilled workers with repair and maintenance of district facilities, including repairing woodwork; replacing electrical switches, fixtures, and motors; painting, repairing, and replacing plumbing fixtures and drainage systems; and replacing broken glass.
  • Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; perform maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems, including lockers, furniture, and equipment.
  • Complete repairs as directed on work orders or by maintenance foreman.
  • Assist with mowing and detailing of district grounds.
  • Move, install, assemble, and repair all school furniture and playground equipment as needed.

Safety

  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques while performing job duties, including lifting, climbing, and the safe operation of equipment and tools.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
  • Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required.
  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
  • Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Prepare buildings for operation, which may include early morning, late night, weekend, or holiday work.
  • Attend meetings as requested by supervisors or district administration.
  • Work overtime as requested by supervisors or district administration.
  • Be respectful and courteous to parents, students and staff.
  • Take appropriate precautions in extreme weather conditions to ensure personal safety, such as wearing appropriate clothing and taking appropriate water breaks.
  • Dress and grooming should be appropriate. Wear proper uniform and name badge.
  • Read and respond to email in a timely manner.
  • Complete all required training.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Compile, maintain, and organize reports, records, and other required documentation.
  • Adhere to all applicable federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, board policies, and district regulations.
  • Follow established campus and district routines to ensure compliance and consistency in operations.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
