This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range & Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the PositionThis position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Camp Stanley Storage Activity. It serves as a Mobile Equipment Operator, operating a wide variety of equipment and power and hand tools.
Who May ApplyUS Citizens. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element)- Ability to do the work of a Mobile Equipment Operator without more than normal supervision.
- Possess the ability to perform common tasks, including operating material handling equipment to move, load, unload, and handle materials such as forklifts, landscaping equipment, motor vehicles, and farm equipment.
- Have the ability to inspect material handling equipment and attachments and perform preventive maintenance, if needed.
- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Performs work on hard surface and gravel in situations that require standing, stooping, bending, walking, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Operator is subject to strain caused by vibrations of the equipment and from jerking and jolting motions while lifting and moving containers. Occasionally performs work on other than hard surfaces and lifts and carries parts, equipment and items weighing up to 75 pounds.
Strenuous effort may be required when connecting the tractor and trailer. Considerable eye, hand, and foot coordination is required to produce the desired movements while watching the load and its clearance with other objects.
Work is performed outside in a variety of weather conditions and all types of terrain from flat wide-open fields to steep and rocky earth covered magazines. Employee is frequently subject to jolts, cuts and bruises and may be exposed to serious injuries (e.g., broken bones or back injuries). Exposed to dirt, dust, paint, and grease. Special care and safety precautions must be exercised to avoid such serious injury while using tools and operating equipment.
During periods of inclement weather, may be assigned to accomplish in-door tasks such as minor painting for protection of surfaces, cleaning of common work areas, and sorting and restacking supplies or assisting in the Carpentry Shop.
