Boise State University’s Department of Public Safety is responsible for safety on campus, with teams in Parking & Transportation, Emergency Management, and Public Safety Systems.

Essential Functions- Repair and maintain parking equipment and electronic devices.
- Install and maintain signs, poles, and parking lot infrastructure.
- Stripe parking lots and paint curbs and traffic markings.
- Operate maintenance equipment, power tools, and snow removal equipment.
- Maintain shuttle stop shelters and transportation facilities.
- Support seasonal maintenance and campus events.
- Help keep parking facilities clean, safe, and operational.
- Ensure customer service for the entire Department and campus community.
- Engage in Departmental problem‑solving for organizational issues; make recommendations for departmental efficiencies and advancement.
- Plan and coordinate a variety of special administrative projects and assignments.
- Renew job knowledge by reading professional journals, participating in education opportunities, and belonging to professional organizations.
- Represent the Department and the Division in select working groups, committees, and partnerships, both internal and external to the University.
- May perform other duties as needed.
- Good verbal and written communication skills; detail-oriented.
- Good customer service skills.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of cleaning supplies and related chemicals.
- Ability to manage one’s own time.
- Ability to work outside in variable temperatures.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule for maintenance needs.
- Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential matters and information.
- Experience diagnosing and making repairs to basic electronic components; making mechanical repairs and minor repairs to small engines; operating power tools, including air compressors and hammer drills; using standard hand tools, including drills, screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches, saws, and files; using word processing and spreadsheet computer software.
- A current and valid Driver's License.
- Experience operating power tools, including air compressors and hammer drills.
- Experience using standard hand tools, including drills, screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches, saws, and files.
- Willingness to perform duties associated with commercial cleaning, including operating industrial‑type cleaning equipment such as high‑speed buffers and vacuum cleaners; cleaning restrooms and similar facilities; moving heavy items such as tables, chairs, and bleachers; and repairing the equipment and related devices you operate.
Salary: $17.55/hr.
- 12 paid holidays. University closed between Christmas and New Year’s (requires use of 3 vacation days).
- 12–24 annual paid vacation days for full‑time professional and classified staff, depending on position type and years of service.
