Service Foreman – Boise,

Earn $75,000 - $85,000 plus bonus

Job Summary

The primary function of the Service Foreman is to assign, supervise, and verify the quality of work performed by the Service Technicians.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintains the service shop capacity control and communicates capacity status throughout the day with the Service Writer.
  • Receives work orders from Service Writers and assigns them to Service Technicians based upon skill level and the time‑of‑completion directed by the Service Writer.
  • Performs quality control checks of workmanship on each service project and provides technician training.
  • Coordinates communication between Service Writer and Service Technician regarding recommended services, changes in repairs, costs, and time‑of‑completion.
  • Controls actual time spent by Service Technician on each service job performed on a flat rate.
  • Controls special tools and usage and coordinates equipment purchase and replacement with Service Manager.
  • Oversees shop cleanliness and keeps the shop in order.
  • Assists Service Writer, Service Manager, and Warranty Administrator in the performance of their duties.
  • Maintains a working understanding of all warranty policies and procedures of vendors and Kenworth.
  • Maintains a level of training and experience with specialized materials, equipment, and safety techniques necessary for superior servicing of the customer's equipment, including Service Net, QSOL, Cat, Service Ranger, etc., and attends training sessions as required.
  • Generates and maintains all work orders and repair orders and assists customers in identifying needed services.
  • Coordinates all customer contact with the Service Department, including repair estimates, service appointments, customer authorizations on service orders, status‑of‑repair inquiries, payment terms, and complaints.
  • Calculates all labor charges on flat‑rate repair orders and reviews all labor charges on hourly‑rate repair orders, demonstrating the ability to close all repair orders.
  • Ensures timely, competent, and courteous relations with service customers and analyzes quality control reports.
  • Promotes the sales of labor, parts, and accessories during customer contact.
  • Monitors all open repair orders daily and closes them as quickly as possible. Troubleshoots with parts department to resolve delays in receiving parts for repair orders and resolves quickly; monitors inter‑company tickets to ensure equal priority.
  • Issues Workmen's Compensation “First Report of Injury” forms to injured employees, ensures correct completion, forwards reports to Service Manager and the insurance company.
  • Assists Service Manager, Warranty Administrator, Credit Department, and Production Control in the performance of their duties.
  • Works with Credit Manager to verify open charge account status prior to accepting P.O., unit release, and update estimates in the repair order system.
  • Maintains friendly working relationships with customers and company employees, providing assistance, information, and instruction as needed to expedite repairs and preserve good relationships.
Qualifications

Ability to read, write, and comprehend English instructions and information. High school diploma or equivalent. Two years of experience as a heavy‑duty truck repair technician. Working knowledge of all heavy truck repair methods. One‑year supervisory experience. Excellent communication, organizational, and managerial skills. Valid Commercial Driver’s License with a good driving record. Professional personal appearance.

Working Conditions

This is a physically demanding position. You will stand six to eight hours per shift, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, and feel, and lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds. You will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and non‑hazardous materials, and will climb in and out of customers’ vehicles to record information and road drive.
