POSITION PURPOSE

This challenging position has overall responsibility for performing maintenance and repairs, and preventative maintenance, to all areas of the hotel. You will perform maintenance and repair work on the interior and exterior of buildings, guestrooms and contents, laundry and kitchen/refrigeration equipment, lighting, heating/air conditioning, ventilation, and water treatment systems, and swimming pool and ensure that equipment is prepared and operational for the following day's work.

The Assistant Director of Maintenance manages the preventative maintenance program while monitoring and securing inventory and following established ordering procedures to replenish supplies and inventory and minimize waste.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
This role is responsible to inform management of hazardous situations, emergencies or threats to the security of guests, employees or resort assets and provide input on the annual departmental operating budget. You will promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. You may assist with other duties as assigned.

SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

Education

High school or equivalent education required. Bachelor’s Degree or related technical school degree preferred.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to remain calm, responsive and friendly under pressure.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Outlook, Word, Power point, Excel and Project is required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnights, weekends/holidays.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management, while providing information effectively.
  • Candidate must exhibit the ability to excel in a fast paced work environment.
  • Candidate must exhibit sound decision making skills, delegation, and problem solving ability.
  • Associate’s degree in Construction Management or related discipline is required.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Preferably a minimum five years of facilities management experience in a management role.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the hotel on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks occasionally.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near and color vision and depth perception.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
