Department: Department of Public Works-Structures and Grounds Division

Provides professional, administrative, managerial, technical, supervisory, and skilled hands‑on work in planning/managing the care and cleaning of Town owned buildings and facilities; all other duties as assigned.

• High School diploma, with additional training/education in Building Maintenance preferred. More than five (5) years of supervisory experience, and experience in custodial/maintenance management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Class D drivers license required.

• General knowledge of cleaning materials and methods.
• Knowledge of SDS laws and procedures.
• Familiarity with building operations and maintenance requirements.
• Working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing programs.
• Proven ability to manage and implement a large municipal-scale custodial/building maintenance program.
• Ability to instruct, train and direct subordinates.
• Ability to develop and effectively manage budgets.
• Ability to administer grants.
• Ability to operate all types of equipment related to custodial and building maintenance.
• Ability to keep detailed records.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and deal appropriately with subordinates.
• Demonstrated ability to meet and deal appropriately and effectively with a large variety of people.
• Ability to professionally interact with other Town employees, citizens, or Town Leaders.
• Ability to work in a close‑knit, team environment.
• Ability to use computers, and programs including Microsoft Office, inventory, and database programs.
• Skilled in performing preventative maintenance on plant and equipment.
