General Event Production and Stagehand Crew

Groundwork Operations, LLC provides general and specialized crew to set-up and break-down indoor and outdoor events in multiple regions. Our team works projects of all sizes, from small events that a single crew member can set up on their own, to large scale events such as the NY Marathon where we have dozens of shifts available on a daily basis for several weeks.

This job is gig-based. You are applying for the opportunity to be included in our database of crew members who are offered individual shifts based on the varying, seasonal needs of the clients we serve. Many events will require you to work overnights and weekends.

Whether you are interested in pursuing a career in event production, or are simply seeking a flexible work schedule or supplemental income, this job can be a great fit. In addition to seasoned event production professionals, our current crew roster includes artists, content creators, graphic designers, students, and entrepreneurs with a wide range of life experiences and personal pursuits. Some crew members work a single shift a year, while others work 40+ hour weeks during our busy season.

Motivated crew members will have more consistent work opportunities, access to additional training, increased responsibilities, and pay raises.

• Set-up / installation and break-down / dismantle of tents, pipes, drapes, signage, hardware structures, tables, chairs, and barricades
• Coiling and laying cable
• Loading and unloading trucks
• Distribution and collection of materials
• Trash removal

Job descriptions and assignments vary from shift to shift. Our role on every job site is to support our clients in completing load-in and set-up of their event or project exactly as they intend it. To achieve this goal, we work collaboratively as a team, regardless of what unexpected task may be thrown our way. Even the most technically skilled member of our crew will find themselves on work sites with clients where unskilled grunt work and challenging physical labor—such as picking up trash and stomping it down into an overflowing dumpster—are necessary in order to complete the job.

At Groundwork Operations, no task is beneath us, even the founding partners and top‑level leadership get their hands dirty.

• Ability to lift 100 pounds

• Ability to safely use basic tools (hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, box cutters, etc.)

• Ability to personally manage a gig-based work schedule without missing shifts

• Consistent working smartphone with a data plan capable of downloading and operating mobile apps
• Ability to fill out online employment paperwork with e‑signature functionality
• Ability to arrive on site for your first shift in our minimum required uniform—all black attire with no large logos or writing— with work gloves

• Operating specialized moving equipment (pallet jacks, hand trucks, dollies, etc.)
• Operating fork, scissor, or boom lifts
• Driving cargo and/or passenger vans
• Professional moving experience
• Warehouse, packing, shipping and receiving
• Stagehand, AV, concert, and theater work

• All black clothing (top): T‑Shirt, Sweatshirt (if necessary). No tank tops or sleeveless shirts.
• All black clothing (bottom):
  Pants or Shorts (Carhartt, Dickies, dark black denim, technical sweats). No faded or weathered denim, or visibly pilly sweatpants/gym shorts.
• Footwear:
  Acceptable—sturdy boots or sneakers. Recommended—safety boots or shoes with ankle support and toe protection (steel‑ or composite‑toe). No open‑toed or open‑heeled footwear (slippers, sandals, etc.), no soft sock‑like sneakers.
