Job Title
Environmental Service Specialist I – full-time (40 hours) with shifts Day (7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.), Evening (2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.), and Night (11:15 p.m. – 7:15 a.m.).
Responsibilities- Cleans floors by sweeping, vacuuming, and washing using appropriate supplies and equipment.
- Cleans interior surfaces such as walls, ceilings, windows, and furniture by dusting, polishing, and washing using appropriate supplies and equipment.
- Cleans toilets, lavatories, washrooms, and mop closets, using appropriate supplies and equipment to maintain appearance and cleanliness.
- Empties waste receptacles and disposes of general waste, infectious waste, and hazardous waste.
- Clears and maintains furniture items such as beds, dressers, chairs, tables, and overhead tables.
- Strips, scrubs, seals, and finishes floors as required using appropriate supplies and equipment.
- Remakes beds after washing using appropriate linen supplies.
- Removes and re-hangs window draperies and bedside curtains as required to maintain appearance.
- Operates battery-powered equipment designed to wash, scrub, and polish hard floor surfaces, following manufacturer procedures, equipment maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Sets up and breaks down conference rooms for meetings and other functions.
- Follows the policy for terminal cleaning in patient rooms upon discharge and for long‑term care patients.
- Inspects assigned areas to ensure work has been performed following established procedures.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods and lift or carry heavy objects, with or without accommodation.
- Prior cleaning, custodial, or housekeeping experience.
Title 101 CMR 23.00 requires COVID‑19 and influenza vaccination or equivalent mitigation measures for this position.
