Position: Hospital Floor Care Tech — Clean, Safe Environments (Sign-On)

Position/Dept Summary

Working in Environmental Services makes you an integral part of our hospital. You’ll work with diverse employees and see all aspects of our hospital functions while ensuring that your colleagues have a clean and safe environment to treat our patients properly. Schedule: 7‑3:30 pm Monday through Friday and every other weekend and holidays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform hard floor care: dust mops, damp mops, stripping, waxing, refinishing, and spray buffing.
  • Clean carpets and furniture, including vacuuming, spot removal, and shampoos.
  • Maintain assigned areas such as stairwells and elevators.
  • Operate electric and battery‑powered equipment for cleaning services and rearranging of furniture/equipment.
  • Pick up supplies and pack regulated medical waste.
  • Wear protective clothing as required (e.g., surgical dress code, medical waste packing, ribavirin and/or isolation precautions).
  • Respond to floods and other emergencies; dry and clean facilities and equipment as directed.
  • Use equipment to respond to emergencies in accordance with hospital and department protocols to ensure personal and environmental safety.
Education & Experience
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience as a floor care technician or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to operate powered machinery safely and effectively.
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions in English.
  • Ability to understand and respond to moderately complex written or verbal instructions in English.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to instructions, questions, or requests for information; work involves courtesy toward patients and visitors.
  • Ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies.

Sign‑on Bonus: Environmental Service positions are currently eligible for a sign‑on bonus of $1,000.
