Assistant Facilities Manager
A well-established food manufacturing company is seeking a reliable and hands-on Assistant Facilities Manager to support the daily operation, maintenance, safety, and efficiency of multiple facilities. This individual will work closely with the Facilities Manager to support production needs, coordinate maintenance activities, oversee vendors, and ensure compliance within a USDA/FDA-inspected environment. This position requires flexibility and the ability to respond to facility emergencies after hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities Support the Facilities Manager with daily building, grounds, maintenance, repair, and security operations Coordinate outside contractors, service providers, and vendors to ensure timely, high-quality, and cost-effective work Assist with preventive and corrective maintenance programs to reduce equipment and facility downtime Conduct facility inspections and help ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, OSHA, environmental, and workplace safety requirements Track facility-related expenses and prepare cost estimates for repairs, upgrades, and improvement projects Support sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives Assist with space planning, facility layout changes, and workplace improvement projects Help develop and maintain emergency response and disaster recovery procedures Provide direction and support to maintenance personnel as needed Coordinate renovations, installations, repairs, and other facility-related projects while minimizing disruption to production Respond to emergency facility calls across multiple locations Adjust work schedules based on seasonal production demands and operational needs
Qualifications 2–4 years of experience in facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, food manufacturing, or a related field Experience working in a USDA- and/or FDA-inspected manufacturing environment strongly preferred Working knowledge of building systems, preventive maintenance practices, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, maintenance personnel, and facility projects Ability to prepare cost estimates, track expenses, and work within established budgets Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to prioritize multiple projects and respond effectively to urgent facility needs Previous leadership or staff coordination experience preferred Ability to support emergency calls 24 hours a day when needed Availability to work after hours, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require
