Facilities Maintenance Technician | Boston, MA

We are seeking candidates for a Facilities Maintenance Technician position with a leading real estate company located in Boston, MA. This position will support the daily maintenance, operations, and upkeep of properties throughout the Boston area. Working closely with the Field Supervisor and property management team, the Field Maintenance Mechanic will perform general building repairs, respond to tenant service requests, coordinate outside contractors, and oversee maintenance activities across multiple properties.

The ideal candidate is dependable, resourceful, and comfortable working independently while providing exceptional service to tenants and building occupants.

This is a permanent position that will pay $35–$42/hour (depending on experience) + OT eligibility.

Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM EST.

Responsibilities:

• Respond to resident maintenance requests and work orders, troubleshooting and resolving day-to-day issues in a timely and professional manner.

• Complete apartment turnovers, including preparing units for new residents and ensuring apartments are clean, functional, and move-in ready.

• Perform general plumbing and HVAC maintenance, including minor repairs, troubleshooting, filter replacements, and routine servicing.

• Complete painting, drywall repairs, patching, and touch-ups throughout apartments and common areas.

• Perform general carpentry and light electrical work, including minor repairs, fixture replacements, and hardware installation.

• Conduct preventative maintenance and routine property inspections to ensure building systems, apartments, and common areas remain safe and well-maintained.

• Independently diagnose and resolve routine maintenance issues while identifying when specialized assistance is required.

• Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for larger repairs, specialized maintenance, and property improvement projects.

• Maintain building exteriors, grounds, walkways, and common areas, including coordinating snow and ice removal as needed.

• Document completed work, update maintenance logs, and track work orders through completion using Yardi.

• Maintain an organized inventory of tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies.

• Assist with overseeing cleaning and day porter staff, providing backup coverage at other properties, and participating in emergency and on-call coverage.

• Maintain professional, service-oriented relationships with residents, property management, vendors, and contractors.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma, technical school education, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience.

• 2–5 years of building maintenance, facilities, or project management experience preferred; training available for the right candidate.

• General knowledge of building repairs, maintenance, and basic mechanical systems.

• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities across multiple properties.

• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.

• Reliable vehicle and ability to travel between Boston-area properties and local supply stores.

• Flexibility to participate in emergency response and on-call coverage.
