This is an essential position, meaning:
- You must report to work during emergencies or inclement weather
- Extended shifts and overtime are likely during these events
- This provides valuable overtime pay opportunities while supporting your community when it matters most
- Read water meters and record data using handheld devices
- Identify and report irregular usage or system issues
- Install, inspect, maintain, and replace water meters
- Assist with utility operations (water main breaks, sewer issues, flushing, etc.)
- Communicate with residents, property owners, and contractors
- Support billing accuracy and field investigations (e.g., high water usage)
- Maintain records and assist with inventory and reporting
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 year of related experience (or equivalent combination of training/education)
- Basic math, reading, and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid Class A Restricted CDL (with tank & air brake endorsements within 6 months)
- Confined Space & Flagger certifications
- First Aid, CPR & AED certification
- Spend up to 95% of your day walking outdoors
- Work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)
- Lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically active tasks
- Use safety equipment in compliance with regulations
- $21.1100 - $22.5000 per hour (DOE)
