Position Overview
This role operates equipment to maintain and repair roadways, highways, bridges, and structures. The operator assists with emergency cleanup and traffic control after storms, spills, incidents, and other emergencies.

706 Tolman Creek Road, Ashland, Oregon 97520.
- Operate heavy and light equipment and tools to maintain and repair road surfaces.
- Assist with weather‑related emergencies: operate snowplows, deicer trucks, and other equipment to clear snow.
- Perform minor surface repairs such as pothole and concrete patching and small inlay work.
- Clear debris, brush, mow grass, and spray roadside vegetation.
- Maintain and repair fences, guardrails, concrete barriers, and milepost markers.
- Maintain drainage systems: dig, clean ditches, and repair culverts, inlets, and erosion problems.
- Maintain wooded areas: replanting, pruning, thinning or trimming trees, shrubs, and ground cover.
- Service and repair tools and motorized equipment.
- Perform minor maintenance including janitorial work, landscaping, painting, and light carpentry.
- Respond to emergencies with a maximum 45‑minute response time to the Ashland site.
- One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
- OR two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.
- Current, valid CDL‑A with no air brake, 5th wheel, or manual transmission restrictions.
- Must be able to obtain a tanker endorsement within 30 days of hire.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Candidates must be able to lift up to 100 pounds, move across rough terrain, bend and stoop for extended periods, and may need to work after hours, weekends, and holidays for emergency, on‑call, and weather‑related purposes.
Physical DemandsExposure to noise, extreme heights, all weather conditions, heavy equipment, pesticides, and hazardous waste materials is expected.
