Outside Service Technician

Ashley has an immediate opening for an Outside Service Technician. The Outside Service Technician role is primarily responsible for the repair of case goods, leather, and upholstery furniture. You will be completing minor furniture repairs on all types of product damage, including handling or damage that may occur with furniturepurchasedin customers’ homes. • Repairs with little guidance on all product types.
• Completes all repair types of entry level with additional skills requirements.
• Performs minor repair on top of surface of case pieces and tables.
• Performs solid color paper/side refinishes.
• Performs small corner damages thatrequiresrebuild.
• Has general understanding of spray booth set up and use.
• Performs advance replacementpartrepairs.
• Communicates any maintenance of tools, parts and hardware needed as well as keeping repair area/shop clean.
• Help to inspect damaged products and conveys if it can be repaired to likenew conditions.
• Works with warehouse personnel on techniques of minor touch up on products during the inspection process.
• Documents and follows through onrecurringproduct damages.
• Assist other technicians.
• Accurately reports situations that occur when repairscannotbe completed.
• Must be able to assess damages todeterminethe most efficient way to repair them.
• Identifies damage,lossor surplus of goods and materials stored in the warehouse.

• Comply with safety regulations andmaintainsclean and orderly work areas.
• Maintains proper safety usage of all products that are used within the department.
• Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle, including maintaining required repair materials and supplies.
• Adhere to driving policy for company vehicles, including meeting annual MVR review requirements.
• Follow the planned route to ensure on-time arrival for Customer repairs.
• Safe operation of hand and power hand tools, especially drills, impact drivers, and multi-tools.
• Complete bench testing evaluations for regular validation of skills.

• High School Diploma.
• 1-year practical work experience in furniture repair including upholstery, leather repairs and wood refinishing OR similar experience working with other materials and completing color matching.
• Read, understand, and write in the English language; additional languages beneficial.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Ability to learn in-house computer programs.
• Valid Driver’s License and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record per company guidelines.

• Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus to read reports, view computer screen, etc.
• Must be able to hear and understand speech to interact with others.
• Must be able to speak so that others will be able to understand.
• Will remain in a seated position for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to perform repetitive tasks with both hands to include keyboarding,
  handwriting, office/POS equipment and handheld equipment operation.
• Will remain on one’s feet in an upright position and move about on foot.
• Will bend, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach at or above shoulder level.
• Will lift and carry objects up to50 pounds and more with assistance.
• Will work predominately in a private home or retail establishment; occasional work at
  warehouse locations.
• Potential exposure to oil, latex, and spray paint, household chemicals, biological odors and household dusts; moderate office noise.
