Substitute School Cleaner / Custodian

As Needed / Part-Time / On-Call Pay Rate: $11.00/Hour
About the Role
Dedicated School Staffing is seeking dependable and hardworking Substitute School Cleaners/Custodians to support school facilities teams when regular staff are absent. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Substitute custodians assist with daily cleaning tasks, light maintenance, and building upkeep across classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust assigned spaces
- Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners
- Assist with cafeteria cleanup, including wiping tables and maintaining floors
- Perform light maintenance tasks such as replacing bulbs or restocking supplies
- Set up or break down rooms for events or activities as needed
- Ensure safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
- Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or damages to supervisors
- Follow district cleaning protocols, safety procedures, and schedules
- Work collaboratively with custodial staff and school personnel
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Clean criminal background checks
- Obtain Ohio & enroll in Ohio rapback program
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, standing, and moving equipment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Dependability, punctuality, and professionalism
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Adherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous custodial, janitorial, or maintenance experience
- Familiarity with cleaning equipment and safe chemical handling
- Experience working in school or institutional settings
