The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance, repairs, safety inspections, and general facility upkeep to ensure the hospital environment remains safe, functional, clean, and compliant with applicable healthcare facility requirements.
The ideal candidate will have experience performing general building maintenance and repairs, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting, and will be comfortable responding to urgent maintenance needs. This position requires a dependable, hands-on individual who can work independently while coordinating with clinical, administrative, environmental services, and IT departments as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform routine and preventive maintenance throughout the facility.
- Repairing toilets, faucets, and fixtures.
- Clearing clogged drains and lines.
- Performing routine plumbing line maintenance.
- Identifying and reporting plumbing issues requiring specialized service.
- Perform basic electrical maintenance and repairs within the scope of training and authorization.
- Repair/Replace flooring, wood, laminate, etc
- Complete painting, drywall patching, wall repairs, and other general building repairs.
- Assemble, disassemble, relocate, and install furniture and other facility equipment.
- Perform repairs and adjustments to doors, hardware, and magnetic/electronic door lock mechanisms.
- Conduct routine inspection and maintenance of air handlers and related equipment.
- Change facility air filters on a monthly basis or as otherwise required by the facility's preventive maintenance schedule.
- Perform routine generator checks and document required inspections.
- Inspect fire safety equipment and report deficiencies or concerns.
- Participate in monthly facility safety and Environment of Care (EOC) walkthroughs.
- Identify environmental hazards, safety concerns, maintenance deficiencies, and needed repairs and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Assist with running and routing wiring for camera installations in coordination with the IT Department.
- Maintain work areas in a safe and orderly condition.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests that may affect patient, staff, or facility safety.
- Coordinate with outside contractors and service vendors when specialized repairs or inspections are required.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of completed maintenance, inspections, preventive maintenance activities, and repairs.
- Follow facility policies, infection prevention practices, safety procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Perform other maintenance and facility-related duties as assigned.
