Montana State University is seeking multiple Custodian I openings across campus, with a variety of shifts available seven days a week.
OverviewCustodians provide cleaning and maintenance services for MSU. The primary duties include cleaning areas such as restrooms, carpeted and hard‑surface floor care, trash removal, room set‑ups, moving and placing furniture of varying sizes and weights, and other related duties.
Required Qualifications- Experience in custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or related services.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal or no supervision.
- Experience providing excellent customer service.
- Certifications, courses completed, or knowledge of safety procedures used in a custodial, janitorial, or housekeeping position.
- Positively and professionally perform all job functions.
- Consistently exercise initiative and good judgment.
- Operate work‑related equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
- Accurately follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
- Work effectively in a team‑oriented environment.
- Complete multiple tasks in a timely manner.
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Possess strong organizational skills.
- Be highly motivated and work with minimal supervision.
- Pay excellent attention to detail.
- Represent MSU professionally and courteously to others.
- Move up to 50 lbs, occasionally up to 100 lbs.
- Move, transport, and place items such as residence hall furniture, classroom furniture, office furniture, special event equipment, chairs, tables, stages, and cleaning supplies.
- Move up and down stairs and ladders.
- Stand or move around for extended periods.
- Grip handles on cleaning equipment.
- Regular exposure to cleaning solutions.
