Maintenance Worker
Position Overview
Under general supervision of the Road Foreman, this position is responsible for performing manual labor, operating various light equipment and tools to maintain and repair road and bridges. The position also provides operational support to the Road, Bridge, and Junk Vehicle Department and performs a variety of other duties as assigned. The position reports to the Road Foreman and does not supervise other personnel.
QualificationsThis position requires knowledge and skills in equipment and tool operations, and basic mechanical diagnosis and repair. The position also requires the ability to effectively and regularly perform labor intensive work under adverse site conditions, coordinate tasks and procedures with others, and the ability to monitor and maintain safety protocols.
The position also requires a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Montana or attain a Montana driver’s license within six months of hire and be insurable under the County’s liability policies.
Education & ExperienceThe required knowledge, skills and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma plus one (1) year of related experience in light equipment and small tool operations, public sign installation and repair, or related trade/technical field.
Supplemental InformationAs a condition of hire, the final candidate will be required to successfully pass a criminal history check and background investigation and will be required to successfully pass pre-employment drug testing and will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing thereafter.
