Position Overview

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of the CATS Academy Boston campus. This role leads the maintenance and custodial teams to ensure all academic, residential, and athletic facilities are preserved to the highest standards of safety and functionality. The Facilities Manager serves as a critical partner to school leadership in managing campus infrastructure, vendor relationships, and emergency physical plant responses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the hiring, training, and supervision of the maintenance crew and custodial staff.
  • Develop daily, weekly, and seasonal work schedules to ensure 24/7 campus operational readiness.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing professional development for the facilities team.
  • Model professional and ethical behavior, serving as a role model for staff and maintaining appropriate boundaries within the student community.
  • Oversee the preventative maintenance program for all campus buildings, HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Residential Life to ensure dormitory facilities meet high standards of safety and cleanliness.
  • Manage a prioritized work-order system to address campus repairs and improvements promptly.
  • Maintain responsibility for campus grounds, including landscaping and snow removal operations.
  • Manage the facilities budget, including tracking expenses for supplies, equipment, and outsourced services.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external contractors and service providers for major repairs or capital projects.
  • Manage the procurement of cleaning and maintenance supplies, ensuring cost-effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Maintain accurate records of campus assets, warranties, and maintenance histories.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, all-staff meetings, and required professional development trainings.
  • Partner with the Dean of Students and Director of Residential Life to implement and support campus-wide emergency preparedness and safety drills.
  • Ensure all facility-related safety equipment is regularly inspected and compliant with local codes.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to respond to facility-related emergencies during evenings, weekends, or non-standard hours.
  • Uphold all Academy safeguarding policies and comply with Massachusetts mandated reporting requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the Head of School.
Requirements Education/Certification Requirement

High school diploma required; technical certification in Facilities Management or a related trade preferred.

Experience

5+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role preferred.
