San Diego State University Imperial Valley – Brawley Campus is seeking a reliable and service-oriented Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming campus environment. This role performs a variety of custodial, maintenance, and support duties to ensure campus facilities are clean, functional, and ready for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

• Custodial Services
• Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, and building entrances.
• Perform floor care, furniture cleaning, trash and recycling removal, and replenishment of restroom supplies.
• Support post‑construction cleanup, emergency response cleaning, and special custodial projects.
• Maintain windows, stairwells, exterior walkways, and other campus facilities to ensure a clean and professional appearance.
• Campus Closures & Special Support
• Perform deep cleaning projects during campus closures, including floor restoration, carpet cleaning, pressure washing, and room setup.
• Support conferences, special events, and other campus operational needs.
• Facility & Equipment Maintenance
• Perform minor facility and custodial equipment repairs and adjustments.
• Report building maintenance needs and assist with securing campus facilities.

• Help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for the campus community.
• Contribute to the daily operations of a vibrant university campus.
• Be part of a collaborative team dedicated to service excellence.

• Full‑time (1.0 time‑base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
• Designated non‑exempt under FLSA and eligible for overtime compensation.
• Standard SDSU work hours Monday – Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., may vary based on operational needs.
• Work on campus at SDSU‑Brawley location.

SDSU Imperial Valley is a division of SDSU located 120 miles east of the San Diego Campus. The Brawley location includes laboratories, classrooms, and a school of nursing that partners with more than 100 community partners within the San Diego and Imperial Valley region. The site covers approximately 8 acres with 15 buildings.

Prior experience not required.

• Ability to lift and transport equipment, material and supplies up to 50 pounds without assistance (exceeding 50 pounds with assistance).
• Working knowledge of common methods, practices, equipment, and materials used in custodial work.
• General knowledge of cleaning chemicals and methods of use; ability to make repairs to equipment to ensure good operating order.
• Preferred:
  Prior experience in custodial services, maintenance services, or similar environment within the previous three years.
• Preferred:
  Prior experience using custodial floor equipment (ride‑on Zambonis or walk‑behind floor machines, carpet extractors, buffers, floor sweepers and restroom equipment) within the previous two years.

Valid California Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.

• Initial step placement not expected to exceed Step 5 ($3,747) for qualified candidates.
• Salary step placement for internal applicants will follow the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,461 – $4,752 per month (Step 1 – Step 20).
• Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
