Cleaning Custodian

Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Schools and Business Manager, the employee is responsible for daily cleaning of classrooms and bathrooms.

• School year: 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm or 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm
• Summer: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm

• Cleans classrooms, common areas, cafeteria, kitchen, vacuums and sweeps hallways.
• Collects garbage, removes trash from building along with daily recycling of cardboard and paper, launders towels, mop heads, and dust mops for daily use.
• Any or all other duties as assigned.

Uses tools including brooms, mops, vacuum cleaners, and shovels.

• Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of tools and equipment.
• Wears appropriate safety gear, including masks.
• Complies with the school district's chemical hygiene program and follows MSDS sheets.

Working between both buildings is required.

• Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with principal and others.
• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
• Ability to describe cleaning, maintenance or repair problems orally or in writing as needed.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
• Ability to work above ground from ladders and automatic lifts.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds.

• Works in standard office and school building environments.
• Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals, solvents and contaminated trash, grasses, pollens, etc.

• Salary starts at $41,080 a year, moving to $43,160 on July 1st, and could be more with experience. Holiday pay, vacation, sick, personal leave, and health insurance benefits are offered. $720 a month towards a health plan.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
