Position: PRODUCTION MACHINERY MECHANIC
Summary

You will serve as a Production Machinery Mechanic in the Production Resource Department (Code 900) of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

Help
  • You will read blueprints, interpret specifications, make templates, and be familiar with the many types of machines, appliances, and equipment required to overhaul.
  • You will setup and operate lathes, milling machines, and shapers to accomplish emergency work.
  • You will install, maintain, repair, and rehabilitate machine tools.
  • You will remove and replace broken, worn, misaligned, or otherwise faulty parts.
  • You will disassemble machines, appliances, and equipment.
  • You will recommend replacement, building, refitting, or the redesigning of the examined parts.
  • You will provide technical and work instructions to helpers, apprentices, and other employees.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You must be able to lift, carry, and set up objects weighing up to sixty pounds and occasionally over 60 pounds while not conflicting with safety regulations.
  • You will be required to work inside or outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
  • You will be required to work in cramped conditions.
  • The position requires sensory perception sufficient to recognize and diagnose problems by sight, hearing, smell, feel/tactile sensitivity, sound, vibration, or other perception.
  • This position may require prolonged periods of standing, stooping, crouching, and sitting in confined or cramped quarters.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
