Maintenance Support Position
One (1) regular, part-time, non-represented position budgeted for 24 hours per week. This position provides maintenance support to the Norm Dicks Government Center in downtown Bremerton. Under general supervision of the facilities/inventory Supervisor, this position performs a variety of manual labor and basic maintenance tasks to support the upkeep of City utility facilities, buildings, and grounds, including reservoirs, pump stations, well sites, and other City-owned properties.
Supports safe, clean, and functional public infrastructure through routine maintenance, cleaning, and operational assistance.

- Perform general grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, brush cutting, weed removal, and debris collection
- Assist with facility maintenance tasks such as cleaning, painting, pressure washing, sanding, and minor surface preparation
- Support maintenance of utility sites, including reservoirs, pump stations, and well facilities
- Collect and dispose of trash and maintain cleanliness of work sites, buildings, and surrounding areas
- Clean, maintain, and organize tools, equipment, and work spaces
- Assist with basic repair and maintenance tasks under supervision
- Operate hand tools and, with training, may operate light vehicles and small equipment
- Load, unload, and transport materials, supplies, and equipment
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Identify and report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or needed repairs to supervisors
- Provide support during special projects, seasonal work, or emergency response activities as assigned
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned
Working conditions:
Work is performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions. Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and mechanical equipment. Work may occur near moving machinery, traffic, or utility infrastructure. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
Physical requirements:
Work involves medium to heavy physical activity and may include: lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds frequently; walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching for extended periods; working with hands and tools in repetitive motions.
Qualifying education and experience (minimum requirements):
Must be at least 18 years of age. High School Diploma or GED preferred. Previous experience in general labor, grounds maintenance, or facility maintenance preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets City standards.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Ability to perform physically demanding manual labor in outdoor and variable conditions. Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn proper use of hand tools and equipment. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow direction from supervisors. Ability to maintain a safe and organized work environment. Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
